I am aspiring to become an optometrist. I initially shadowed Dr. Hicks to see if I wanted to join the ocular industry, and ultimately decided to stay and was given the opportunity to work here. Ultimately, the Team uplifts each other and cultivates an open learning environment for growth.

When a child can see clearly for the first time, it's an incredibly heartwarming and transformative moment. Especially when you visibly notice the sparkle in their eyes from their ability to see from across the room.

Being at the front desk, I get to see the initial discomfort when they walk in and the relief when checking out. It is usually accompanied by a sigh of relief, a smile, and a "tell everyone thank you so much!"

It's a great feeling to see patients vision restored, whether that be with a new pair of glasses or cataract surgery. It is even more amazing to see a child's reaction to clear vision for the first time; it melts my heart!

Team SeePort is ready to welcome an experienced ophthalmic technician to assist Dr. Hicks as he provides comprehensive eye care to the North Port community. Our new team member will have extensive knowledge and understanding of providing both medical and routine eye care. In addition to basic patient intake, our new technician will also be skilled in:
Determining initial eyewear prescription by manual refraction
Collecting IOP via the Goldman Sacs slit lamp method
Capturing OCT and Fundus photos
Gathering Visual Field Data
Scribing for Dr. Hicks
